DJI X-Port

Typical Use Cases & What X‑Port Enables

Using X‑Port, developers or organizations could build and deploy:

  • Custom multispectral / hyperspectral cameras — for agriculture, forestry, environmental monitoring.

  • LiDAR payloads or other 3D scanning sensors — for surveying, mapping, digital terrain modelling, infrastructure inspection.

  • Industrial sensors — gas sensors, thermal, inspection cameras, sensors for pipelines, energy infrastructure, utilities.

  • Specialized instruments — e.g. scientific sensors, custom measurement devices, payloads for research or niche use.

What is DJI X‑Port

  • DJI X‑Port is a high‑precision 3‑axis gimbal adapter / payload interface developed by DJI — intended for use with DJI enterprise drones (e.g. DJI Matrice 300 RTK, Matrice 200 Series V2, Matrice 400).

  • It is part of DJI’s open “payload integration platform” — designed to let hardware developers mount custom (third‑party) sensors, cameras or other payloads on DJI drones, using DJI’s stabilization + communication interface.

  • X‑Port works together with the DJI Payload SDK (PSDK) — enabling the custom payload to communicate with drone’s flight controller, telemetry, power, and control systems as if it were a native DJI payload.

    Key Features & Benefits

    • 3‑axis Gimbal Stabilization — provides stable mounting and precise gimbal control for custom cameras/sensors, enabling smooth imaging or sensing from the air.
    • Full PSDK 2.0 Functionality — includes power delivery, data communication (UART, USB, Ethernet depending on payload), synchronization with drone, and compatibility with DJI’s control apps.
    • Flexible Mounting Options — supports the standard gimbal port or upward-facing gimbal slot, giving flexibility depending on drone model and payload configuration.
    • Customizable Controls — developers can set custom gimbal parameters and map remote‑control buttons to payload functions.
